engine swap 8 to 16 v differences.

Car  renualt clio 1.2 rn
i have a mrk1 phase 3 (1998-2001) 1.2 8 v that the timing belt has snapped in. :o
i have been offered a newer engine from a mrk 2, that is also a 1.2 but instead of 8 is a 16 v .
i have been informed this engine fits straight in, no modification required.

But i'm unsure about the electrics to the engine, does anyone know or done this.

I just dont want to purchase engine if the wiring cant be organised in it.

any info appreciated....

can certainly be done, but its a fair amount of effort for what you get out of it.

easier to stick a mk1 16v engine in

ballache for not much gain. fairly straighforward to fix a snapped belt (top end rebuild) on the 1.2 8v anyway. did one this week. it's done 155k, and the bores were like new. Well worth fixing
