Engine swap info

  Clio rt 1998 1.4
I have a 1998 1.4 ej7 clio and looking to swap out engines as mines seems to be on its last legs, are there any engines that are straight bolt ins? I'm preferably wanting a bigger engine but if I do would that mean also getting gearbox and other drive shafts and stuff? I want to do it but don't have near enough info on what I'd need to buy

  Pearl Black Ph2 172
I had a mk1 clio 1.8 engine dropped in mine by a 'mate' never finished the wiring tho, If your serious about doing it yourself, grab a cheap complete 1.8 mk1 clio as you should then have 95% of the bits needed for the conversion, inc original clocks/keys etc.

Otherwise again, grab a cheap donor car and go get some quotes from local mechanics. your prob looking over £500 labour at least i would expect.

its important to weigh up the costs involed too.

Donor car + services items (belts/tensioners/fluids/filters) + other unseen costs ( fabrication/custom down pipe etc if needed)

you may find it cheaper to buy a project ph1 172 or williams etc and spend some months working on making it better/mint/road safe whatever and just living with the E7J for another 6 months

(my first car was e7j and believe me, i feel for you mate. . . )

  330i. E30 Touring.
Don't bother mate.

Sell yours. Buy something else. Not worth the hassle on a Mk1.
