I had a mk1 clio 1.8 engine dropped in mine by a 'mate' never finished the wiring tho, If your serious about doing it yourself, grab a cheap complete 1.8 mk1 clio as you should then have 95% of the bits needed for the conversion, inc original clocks/keys etc.
Otherwise again, grab a cheap donor car and go get some quotes from local mechanics. your prob looking over £500 labour at least i would expect.
its important to weigh up the costs involed too.
Donor car + services items (belts/tensioners/fluids/filters) + other unseen costs ( fabrication/custom down pipe etc if needed)
you may find it cheaper to buy a project ph1 172 or williams etc and spend some months working on making it better/mint/road safe whatever and just living with the E7J for another 6 months
(my first car was e7j and believe me, i feel for you mate. . . )
