engine tapping help

Just as you need the search function its not working, so went to pick up my sis waiting outside the house on tick over and i start hearing a slight tapping coming from the engine not overly loud could just hear it on the car with no stereo or anything on, pulled up at home and got out and you can hear it slightly tapping on tickover but dissapears when i rev it, anyone any ideas?

First thing in the morning check the oil level as it's a sign of either low-ish oil or its in need of an oil change.

As it sounds like a noisy tappet/s - it will go when you rev it as by doing this you increase the oil pressure which will be forcing the oil around tappets and making them quiet - do an oil change or top the oil up if low and fingers crossed noise will go.

Ive got the same problem. An oil change and new oil filter hasnt solved the problem. Whats my next step?

It'll be the solenoid from the charcoal filter tapping. Not a problem.

cheers for the replys, as for oil it was serviced 200 miles ago oil filter etc, and the level is fine just been and checked, whats this about the solenoid on the charcoal filter?? now the search function is working ive found the dephaser pulley could be on the way out, i sincerly hope not as ashill power did cambelt etc about 500 miles ago.
