Engine transplant questions

Just wondering, how do you know what engines will fit in which engine bays? Are all engine mounts the same on every car or something? Just a general question really as Ive seen ppl spend loads of money on an engine, so mustve known itll fit in ok before they bought it?

you can make any engine fit any engine bay, as long as you have an endless budget

example my Megane RS 225 turbo engine doesn;t go straight into the clio engine bay, it need a sh*t load of custom work to make it fit

The easy guide is if it can go in another clio of teh same mark it can go in yours, otherwise it will need to be adapted.

thee 172 engine is fairly straight forward "drop in"
