Engine tuning packages?

  182
IM trying to figure out what is the best way to go about tuning my engine, the options i know of are:
-cams and remap
-single throttle body with cams etc
-full throttle bodies with above
-supercharger with cams and single throttle body
-Turbocharger kit
Which is worth it, know they all cost a fair bit of money, wanna make the right choice!
cheers

Even the most basic conversion you listed and you'll be talking £1500.

Forget cams altogether. Too much work and a lot of expense for little in the way of gains compared to other options.

Best options from these imo:

- Supercup inlet (when it comes out)

- Supercharger

- Ktec stage 1 turbo (2.5k)

Depends weather you want to spend 1k of 5k.

With out a budget you can have whatever.

This would be a more sensible topic if you said, i have a budget of 2.5K (or something) what is the best route???

not just list a set of mods ranging from 1k - 5k.....

Well the reason i havent stated a budget is because im trying to figure out which is the best option for decent power gains, at the best price so i can save up the money instead of wasting what i have and making the wrong choice.

  172 cup
GDI throttle bodies and cams on omex all done for £3500 :)

can anyone shed some more light on these supercup inlets???

IM trying to figure out what is the best way to go about tuning my engine, the options i know of are:
-cams and remap - 190bhp (428 cams) 1k-1.5K
-single throttle body with cams etc - matts kit? 200bhp (using 428 cams) not use on price.....2k+?........not at all sure.
-full throttle bodies with above - 210bhp (428 no head work, or forged stuff) 3k.....
-supercharger with cams and single throttle body - 260bhp maybe more depending on what kit. (can o worms) 5kish GDI, not sure on Rstuning.
-Turbocharger kit - Ktecs low boost or full.....
Which is worth it, know they all cost a fair bit of money, wanna make the right choice!

Lots of other things will infulence your choice such as are you going to do the work your self? which tuner you prefer? track use of just road use? Insurance? Resale value would u dismantle to sell?

Personally i would buy a 2nd hand ITB kit (ITB noise is sweet) and i dont have cash for a supercharger. . But if you have the money the supercharger is ideal.

Prices may be more on things such as Cat cams due to the Euro ect.

are these going to be tor the 1*2s or the 197s?

The first set will be for the 182/172s i believe if he get enough interest and enough return on there investment they may look at doing a 197 version.

But with mattt doing it is been going through a whole lot of testing to make sure everything is correct.

Havent spoke to him in a while so no idea how its going or how the cost will turn out.

Or for roughly 500 quid more you can have 270bhp of no lag SC grunt- its a no brainer.

Miles more cost effective spending 4k+ on serious power rather than skirting about on big work engine conversions with only 'good' gains

You have other things to consider though.

A £5 supercharger conversion isn't just that, pretty soon your brakes and suspension will need attention to make the most of the power.

The clutch definatly isn't gonna take that power for too long and would benefit from upgrading, and whilst the box is off do you need a box rebuild?

Insurance hike? can you take that too?

It's more money than just the basic conversion

I understand that i will need to start worrying about other things such as the brakes, insurance etc. Wont be using it on track, just road use really, im just trying to get a rough idea so i can budget and see if i can afford it all in the end.

Ive used all specialists but not sure who i would go with, for supercharger probably be with GDI, Aswell as throttle bodies, turbo would prob be with k-tec! Want the car still to be reliable!

Appreciate all the input.
