Engine whine on cold start

Anyone noticed that the 2L MKII engine makes a louder whining noise than normal on idle when they start up from cold...not that loud but noticable. Normally lasts for a about a minute or so until the engine starts to heat up. Sounds like something to do with oil circulation/ timing gear? .....maybe Im getting paranoid!! Anybody heard this or got any ideas?

Maybe its just the auto-choke.

i have that problem on my 16v. i dont know what it is either but will get someone to look at it.

got that on my motor - reckon its the choke tho, nothing else!
