as title, wanting a sub box for my alpine 10" type r, i think from what ive read from alpine i need a box with 0.65 cubic ft.

how much would you be able to do one for me 4 delivered?

You can use small boxes with them but dont go too small or you will get bad frequency peaks. I would say gor a 0.75cuft box or even a 1cuft box would sound nice...All of them (including a 0.65 version if you wanted to stick with the recommendations) are the same price which including delivery would be £45

I dont think it will. Ive heard a couple of Alpine 10" R series in that size box before and it was fine. A nice mixture of punchy and low bass. If you wanted to go for the 0.75cuft box then you could do. It will be more punchy than low though in my opinion. It depends what type of music we are aiming at...maybe i should have asked that before.

Personally i think if he has bought a 10 then i would put it in a .65cuft enclosure, if he wanted lower beats he should of bought a 12". I would never put a 10" type R in a 1cuft box unless a customer specifically asked for it. (and Id advise against it)

If you got a 10" free of something and had to use it but wanted it to hit lower like a 12 then maybe Id use a 1 cuft box but on most occasions if you want it to hit low just buy a 12.

Alpine spend a lot of money designing and testing subs, why would they recommend a 0.65 cuft box if it sounded good in 1 cuft?

So summing up, Pete id recommend you use the Alpine recommendation for the box size and get a 0.65 cuft box

i am going for the punchy bass as opposed to hitting the low notes, mainly listen to dance (house) music, and some old school hip hop.

people have diff opinions and glad to hear them.

Alpine do a nice box for them with a perspex back on them which look and sound good!!!

oh ok..if its the punchy fast moving bass that you want then you should go for the smaller box. something like a 0.65 or 0.75 will be fine.

Go for a Solid MDF box mate. Dont bother with that Perspex box.

If you want punchy as Alpine state and colin has said go for the 0.65 Cft Box mate!

Liquid, Id agree that it will sound marginally better without perspex, however it does look good!!!

yea didnt want to go for perpex, will fibreglass the inside of the box and then put wadding in it anyway!

You dont need wadding if you have the right size of box. If you go for the actual Alpine you dont need to fibreglass the inside either. Try the box with and without the wadding if you wish, but if you want hard, fast punchy bass and you get a 0.65 cuft enclosure you wont need any wadding. If you go for a 0.75 you definitely will not want any wadding.

had other advice sayin that i should fibreglass the box and put wadding in! he worked in an ICE shop too.

think ill deff fibreglass it, but yea can try it with and without the wadding!

You wont need to fibreglass it as long as the box is sealed properly.

Also wadding basically just fools the sub into thinking that it has more air space than it really has. With your sub choice and for the punchy bass that you are looking for, you wont need to do that either.

surely fibreglassing the inside of the box can only improve the sound or not affect it. cant actually make it sound any less gd!

100% agree with Russ, you can fibreglass it if you wnat but IMHO it is a waste of time unless you buy a very cheap box!!!
