So, I recently took my R27 in for a health check. I've just bought the car, well about a month ago and I'm very pleased with it overall. I bought it for the long haul, so I'm prepared to have the work done on it, but I guess I kind of got a bit stiffed on this one.
The steering didn't feel TOO bad, but I knew something wasn't right so I took it in for a health check thinking that one of the ball joints needed replacing. What I got back was that there was excessive play in the N/S hub carrier bottom bearing, and it needed replacing. The parts are £240 each so £480 and I'm guessing the £300 extra is labor.
I'm a bike guy, so my knowledge about cars is minimal especially when it comes to prices on these things but I know the work must be done and I will pay it. I'm just curious to know is the price realistic on this? Is there any other specialists in the Manchester area who would quote less? Anyone else had this done before and have experience in this field?
Many thanks!
Gaz.
