Exhaust blowing

My standard 172 exhaust has just started blowing. doesnt seem to be a hole, think baffles are gone.
anyway can anybody tell me how much a standard back box is? am tempted with a prospeed or a stealth but dont really have £300 to blow at mo, going on hol in 2 week.

how loud is the prospeed and ktec stealth? dont know if i can be arsed with the boomy noise ive had on last two cars lol.

Get someone to rev the car while you are under it, check if its not at one of the joins first, before you start spending money and then gun gum it..

you could take it to your local kwik-fit for a exhaust check as its a free check then when they price it up say you dont want it done/ want to shop arround

i have changed an exhaust on a cup recently and it needed middle and rear as it was the origional system that was £250 main dealer bit

any use?? if not ignore me lol

Good advice, done the same recently with the free brake check, before an MOT, front brakes were uneven (braking) sorted out the dodgy caliper and it passed, was looking at 40 notes for a retest...

(never actually let Kwikfit touch your car for repaires though)

cheers lads, jsut had another quick look underneath, exhaust has cracked where the mid section joins, looks like it might drop off soon, so takin it steady til i ring dealer on monday
