exhaust gas problem

  mk2 172

thing is i fitted a de-cat last week and all was well, now it seems like the car is strangled at high speed, like the gas cant get out fast enough. after 60mph or so, it is fitted onto standard exhaust system and makes a host of weird noises. is it my imagination or is this a fault to be expected, certainly doesnt feel right onto the approach of 100mph

cheers

Ok the cat would of acted as a baffle so you are going to hear strange noises, Id check that all bolts are well and truly tightened, sometimes escaping gas will cause noise. When I put a de-cat pipe on my 19 16v I had the same sort of power loss almost felt like the engines power was going straight out of the exhaust pipe. I had the engine re-tuned and the car felt a little better.

standard system probably cant hack the increased flow of the de-cat

prob blew the baffles out of it and theyve collapsed inside blocking zorst
