Exhaust hitting the front ARB! Exhaust or ARB bushes fault!?

  172 Cup
Basically I've re-fitted my Miltek decat, as before it wasn't sitting straight and causing the exhaust system to bit at a slight angle.

Now the exhaust is perfectly centred to the car! Great I thought.. Only now to find my finger barely fits between the decat and ARB! And obviously it now knocks and bangs..

Basically do you have to have it at a slight angle on the decat to clear the ARB? OR..

has the position of my ARB shifted due to the bushes not looking their best ?( could do with replacing)

I can't see tired bushes however moving the whole ARB enough to now hit the decat.

Really need thoughts on this, I'm having yet ANOTHER go at re-fitting it tomorrow.

Engine mounts need replacing, either go OE new for the road or Vibratecnic's for track competition, or Poly bush dog bone mount with standard engine mounts.

1000% agree with that ^^

If you're going to replace the mounts consider going OE.
When I polybushed the dogbone and uprated a few of the mounts there was a noticeable amount of vibration added to the cabin, which on short journeys I didn't care about but on longer ones it grew tiring.

On Tuesday I replaced them all with OE rubber mounts and the car is now so unbelievably smooth and most importantly, quiet. I can now hear the stereo and my passengers again. :) ashamed I didn't do it sooner.

I've actually already got a poly bushed dogbone mount! Apologies as I should of stated that! I can't see the other engine mounts being bad and causing the exhaust to sit too close to the ARB though?

They do run close, I had the same problem with standard mounts! a dogbone and Vibratecnics engine mounts fitted and it went away, may be worth lifting the bonnet and just seeing how much kick back you get when you rev and lift, I was surprised how much mine moved watching it on the rollers, and they were 40k mile engine mounts at the time.
There is another rubber on the gearbox but it does little, it just rests against it.

Close enough to not be able to fit your finger between the two!?

I'm gonna investigate the mounts now, one under the airbox etc etc!

Cheers for the reply! in a right pickle ha
