Exhaust Knocking?

Morning all,

I have a knocking noise coming from underneath the car - not sure exactly on its location.

It sounds as if the exhaust is knocking against the chasis.

My friends cup does exactly the same.

It primarily happens in first gear when at full acceleration, but sometimes happens in 2nd.

Is this normal?

Sounds like the exhaust. Check the rubbers.

rear exhaust mount, they always go. ktec sell replacements.

mines fooked too, lol.

Its not normal, so it could be that some of the rubber mounts have perished.

Jack it up and have a look underneth there to see whats going on. check the heat sheild so see if there is enough clearence.

Hmm.. thought about that but the car has had a new rubber mounting... :S ...it is an after market exhaust, but only has one rubber holding it at the rear can, one in centre section, and then rest up front...

I am just wondering if it is from the manifold end of the exhaust... ?

Spring kit on the front is my problem mate about 20 quid i think for new ones simple to do too.

Jack it up or take it to ATS etc and give the exhaust a good shake.

Would have thought if it was the rubber mounts the zorst would have dropped.

Its not that 4k knocking thing thats common on 172 mk2's under hard acceleration??
