Exhaust Pin Kit

So, about 6 months ago my exhaust (182) started making a rattling noise on take off and a raspy noise at high revs. The garage at its service said it needed a new pin kit but in the meantime put a temporary 'fix' on it.

This worked fine until last week when it went in for it's MOT. MOT passed but noise is back. I presume the garage undid whatever the fix was.

What is a pin kit? and how much should this cost me?

could they have meant spring kit? the manifold-cat joint is spring loaded

I'm English and I live in Scotland so there is a huge likihood that they said spring and not pin

lol. there are bolts in the kit which i suppose look a little like pins - might be what they were referring to

the kit's about £40 from Renault but KTEC do a pattern one for about £20, here: http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2334

the springs are stood on end at the top of the photo

i guess you'd need to clarify with the garage to be sure but that joint's a common problem and it does sound more likely than not that it's what they were referring to

i had the k-tec patern part one on my car but it was blowing, got the genuine renault one for £45 and its been fine since! easy to change over too

So, my spring kit finally broke this morning

I head to the Renault garage and they can't fit me in but also they don't know what i'm talking about, grrrrr

The specialist 'parts' guy looked at me funny and didn't have a clue. Was tall/skinny with glasses and looked like he's never touched a car in his life (and probably not a woman either)

So i go to kwickfit (said i would never go here again but it's right by my work)
They know exactly what i'm talking about and say it will be £35
They also try to charge me for a whole new exhaust and 2 new front tyres (MOT'ed 2 weeks ago and was fine)
I HATE THEM - i told them to fix the spring kit and £35 is the price

If you'd gone to the Parts Desk and asked for a Manifold to Cat Gasket Set they'd probably have known what you wanted
