Exhaust problem

My 182 exhaust snapped about 3 months ago and I replaced it with a magnex exhaust but it has gone again, do u think it could be the manifold that has gone on my car this time or do u think the exhaust could have came away from the seal?

Any help would be great, I havent had a chance to look under the car yet.

found out what the problem was, its the pipe down from the manifold into the cat that that snapped just before the cat, so i have phoned renault and they say its going to cost £583 for the manifold and pipe as its all one unit. Not very happy at all. This happened to anyone else?

the exhaust manifold snapped? christ never seen that before! they go 2nd hand on here for about £200, t**t to replace

yeah is leads into the cat is that right, the lad said in the garage it was the down pipe and i'm thinking thats what he is on about you think that right?

depends what's broken, but it might be possible to have it tig welded rather than replaced. not sure how much room there is, but might be possible to do it in-situ if there is room

i'm no welder and i dont know anyone that can do it, I wil see if i can get some pics of were its snapped n see what u think.

How did it happen? Have the bolts sheared?

would have to have a look at it, but that just looks as though the bolts have snapped - or have the cups that the bolts sit in pulled through the manifold?

i'd say a decent welder would be able to sort that in-situ if the mani's damaged

ed. if you could take a good picture of the end of the manifold (looking up the pipework), that'd confirm if the 'c' shaped lugs on either side have snapped. even if they have, could likely be repaired for much less than the cost of a new mani+fitting

pics would be good. it's probably repairable, but it's finding someone who's interested in making a good job of it that might be difficult (depends how knackered it is)

If it's knackered will it be a new manifold?

you can fix more or less anything like this (it's just metalwork/fabrication, and welding) - i'm just thinking that, if it looks too much like hard work, you might struggle to find someone willing to have a go

worst case scenario is a s/h mani, fitted on the cheap i guess

manifold looks fine from what i can see, fire ring is missing, so i'll guess just knackered fire ring and/or bolts probably

I think that fire ring is what i have found on the floor so my manifold looks ok, just need this part welding back on? I will still get some pics up.

the mesh ring just slides over the lip on the end of the manifold - no welding req'd

if the manifold's actually intact, you just need a new joint kit (about £20 from somewhere like KTEC or NorthWestPerformance)

Sorted this. It was the two bolts that had sheared and I just got the two bolts replaced ans it's as good as new.

Mine cracked further down due to play in the engine mounts, getting uprated ones fitted by JMS friday.

strange it just snapped off though. When I removed my bolts to remove the CAT it was quiet a tight fit anyway really. Glad it's sorted though mate
