AG Engine and Machine Cleaner to break down the build up followed with some metal polish.

I imagine if that bit inside the pipe has never been cleaned in, say, 6 years (or more or less...) then it'll probably take some tackling.

Rich, would you recommend some carefully brushed on wheel 'acid' cleaner?

i go for:

ag engine and machine cleaner for general clean
ag tar remover for any tar spots
soft wire wool for inside the pipe
and finally a good rub with some autosol

Would never be 100% sure that it wont etch into the metal making it look worse, hence using the Engine and Machine Cleaner as it is non acid based.

Not had any that the above, metal polish and elbow grease wont sort.

Good call on the wire wool makes short work of things, been using it on the 106 Wheel bolts this morning with some Autosol.
