exhaust system, am i right??

hi i have a mk2 172 now when i look at the exhuast system am i right in thinking that i can see the cat then the pipe gets larger for abit which i guess is the silencer? then you have the back box does this sound correct?

also if i buy a sports cat it will only take away the cat section or will it take the silencer as well?

yeah sounds right to me, though i thought the 'back box' included the silencer, unless its different on the clio..

i would have thought the sports cat would just be a straight swap for the cat section..

yep... the silencers are normally in the backbox section . it would be a straight swap but u wont get alot of performace from the sports cat as compared to decat or straight through pipe .

lol prob nto but i dont know if i can be bothered with the hassle of swapping it over each year or finding some where that will. plus then theres the engine man light coming on.
