Exhaust

I have a problem with my 172 exhaust, where when the car is running you hear a loud ticking noise, comming from under the car, the same noise you get when you turn the car off and the exhaust starts to cool down,

Is this normal to hear this when the car is running?

yeah its normal mate, i get the same thing, ive had it with both 172s ive owned.

if i brought a replacement exhaust will that get rid of that noise.

Come to think of it, Im sure mine doesnt make the loud ticking cooling down noise as much as it did.

When its running all I can hear is the deep burble from the exhaust.

Buying a new exhaust is an expensive way of getting rid of the hot metal cooling down noise dont you think?

it is expensive but that noise is getting louder when the car is runing

it is slightly annoying but it just shows that you have a powerful car (thats what i tell people anyway)

i pretty sure that noise doesnt actually come from the exhaust itself, it seems to be the mountings on mine coz if i jiggle the exhaust when the car is stopped, the noise gets louder?
