Exhuast moving when wheels jacked up

My exhaust has snapped on the centre pipe just after the connection which joins it to the Cat.
When I changed my rear brake yesterday I noticed that the exhaust shakes when the wheels at rotated. Could this vibration be what caused the front of the centre pipe to snap? If so what is causing this movement? Knackered engine mounts? If so which ones would cause this?

There mounted on rubber, the exhaust needs to move about as the engine rocks under acceleration.

Think it's mainly due to the standard exhaust being shite that it broke.

But still this movement shouldnt cause the exhaust to seperate. I have a new exhaust ready to fit but want to make sure the same thing doesnt happen to it.
Would on or all of the engine mounts not cause this problem?
