Hi All,
ok had a water leak last week, which after a few fill ups was obvious it was coming from the top heater matrix pipe on my 172 right at the join to the bottom one, (that lil box type looking thingy) so i carefully cut the pipe and put a straight plastic connecter on it and jubilee clipped either side as renault were saying it is a one peice pipe and would cost near enuff £150 and i wasnt going to spend that, anyway after topping up and starting car i soon realised leak was still their and the two heater matrix pipes that i seperated were actually linked together at that box and it had a hole in middle so water could go between the two.
i also have a non sport clio i'm breaking and know for defo they are seperate on them, so i just replaced the bottom heater matrix pipe with the one off the non sport so they are not linked, and hey presto no visible leaks etc. i thought this would be ok, but now i have a leak thats random, like i did 200 miles to london and back and it didnt leak one bit at all (constantly checking) but got back and stayed in 10min traffic jam and i could smell water burn, checked and its below empty? filled it up, fine again for 30miles, took it for a country road blast, same water burn smell back and it's empty.. now could it be that the two heater matrix pipes need to be linked back together causing the issue or is it something else?
i cant seem to find anyone with renault pressure tester but it is so annoying.
any help would be most appreciated. if its a case of they have to be linked to gether i guess i could get two t peices and join them back up. but got horrible feeling its headgasket or something.
Thanks
Eddy
