Extend my Wireless Network

Does anyone know or recommend any equipment to increase my wireless network over 400ft?

I have a netgear wireless router with standard antenna and 400ft away would be a laptop with built in wifi.

Can I get them in range of each other with some new equipment and upgrades? it will be through a few houses by the way.

I doubt it, the range is to far I think. We had a similar issue at work, we needed wireless access on the other side of the factory, we ended up having to run an ethernet cable to another wireless router.

you could get two directional antennas, put them on the top of each property and point them at each other......some direction antennas go 10's of kilometers so its easily possible

yes you can manage about 9 miles with line of sight bigger antennas is what you need and most prob a better router

not really lol.....you could always do the ghetto option and make some 'can-tennas' out of pringles tubes, they have proved to work in the past lol!

I bought a little ariel off ebay that replaces one of the exisitng ones. It claims to increase range to 1000ft which isn't completely true but i can just about get signal in all corners of the house (tis fairly large)
