extra power

  Clio 190bhp Hybrid

Guessing cams, exhaust inc decat, manifold maybe, Sealed Ik like Viper of BMC, gas flowed head (ktec looks promising) and chip. Until someone tries that unsure what that lot would produce but bet it wouldnt be far off, depending on how good OE items are! And if people are doing new cams etc for them yet???

a set of throttle bodies as i keep saying hiked power on the cliocup racer to 215bhp......so 35-40bhp.....

some head work and the short motor lightened and balanced will also make it alot smoother than it is.

depends, just the pair of TBs alone, with no sensors, no management, no fuel rail, no injectors, no manifolds, no nothing can be as low as 125 quid.

But,a full kit say the weber alpha gold kit is just about 2k for the lot fitted, then another say 400-500 quid for mapping time.

They really are one of the best things.

Everybody used to stick on twin 40s, but why do people stop, why not do the same qith the equivalent with some TBs.....far better than stock inj, and you can run a lumpier cam as you can map it far tighter

What is in the weber gold kit? Does fuel consumption go south? Can you order the kit on the net and have it fitted in your region? Do you need speciallists to fit it? What are "twin 40s"?

Do you perhaps know of a place where to buy a decent (smooth) wide arch kit for a clio2 ph1?

Thanx

LOL....im the last person to ask about body kits...not my thing sorry.

ANyway, twin 40s, or 45s or 48s or 50s...all nick names for the weber DCOE or dellorto DHLA twin choke side draught carburetor. the number is refering to the body diameter. larger = more power capacity....but you cant always use it....choosing the right carb size is essential, but thats another thing.

Like i said, the webber gold kit includes everything you need to put throttle bodies on your car, assuming there is a suitable inlet manifold for DCOE fitment.

As for fuel consumption, yes, it will go up, you cant make more power without burnig mor fuel......as to how far it goes up, how much power are you intending to make....and extra 20-30bhp wont be horrendous, but work for 50-70bhp, and yes, you wont be the most environmentally friendly person about.....but who cares....

Oh.. you just refer to the weber carbs differently to what we do.

Does the conversion mean you dump the injection and get carbs instead or is it a revised injection kit or what? Is the 20-30 extra bhp without exhaust and induction kits?

thanx for the help, o knowledgable one

To the both of you:

You will be looking at about 2500 for the hardware and fitting, less if you can do it yourself...its not hard.

TBs are the fuel injection equivalent of DCOEs, they look similar but retain high pressure fuel injection. They replace the inlet manifold and any std airbox/induction kits you may have. Dont bother with carbs, no point.

The gains are with just the TBs yes.

On the valver, with appropriate cams, you can see the better side of 180-190 with work. lots more with other serious mods.

cool. where from?

and ya know a while ago i was talkin to u about my spare valver engine...

well i do still have it and have plans for it.. but im finishing off my bodywork first as its half there and then going back to that....

so if ure still interested in the work.. it will be coming....

i was thinking. tbs , head and cam work... (probably lightened and balanced bottom) the a good rr mapping.. - what ya think? - should see some whoop ass power!
