Lower COG with a V engine. That's one reason.
More of this too...
Few weeks ago, someone mugged him. I shouldn't, but, LOL.
Anyone want to buy a hublot watch???
How F1 should be, fast but dangerous.
No. Easy to say, because it's been so long since someone died. But the current risk is enough, let the designers go banzai and they won't be able to protect the drivers enough in a high speed accident.
I for one would be happiest if there's never another death/serious injury.
The engines are a shame from a noise pov, I'm sure they won't sound great. But the speed and racing shouldn't be affected. But when cost cutting has been the buzzword for so many years, a massive format change which will cost a fortune in r&d seems silly.
I dont understand all the b****cks tbh.
F1 isnt a massive sport in terms of cars on the track.I reckon the emissions from the team buses driving all over the world would be more damaging to the planet than the cars on the track.
The le mans 24hr race does more laps in 1 day than the whole season that f1 does in the year.So i dont understand the logic ???
Whilst the actual emissions are, as you say, very low, I don't think that's why they do it. F1 is at the end of the day, run by the FIA. And they have other interests than motorsport, and F1 as the main public face has to tow the party line.I dont understand all the b****cks tbh.

lol yeah they are the kings of contradiction. You say big teams benefit, but the past few years have proved otherwise. Granted it was the 3rd/4th year of the V8, but still, it was good to see other teams prospering. It's going to be a mercades year next year though with the kers, unless Ferrari pull their finger out.
Is that including all the testing and full weekend driving? or just the race?
just read in an article, the old 1988 renault engine in the lotus, they tried to max it out on the dyno and it went of the scale at 1400BHP...... 3.5 v6.... CHRIST.
that was the old renault turbo wasn't it?
1.5 litre v6.
and fuel that puts out a lit match (but not diesel)
