F7P>MK2 Ghetto conversion

  ValverInBits
1.8 16v F7P out of a MK1 clio into a 1.2 MK2 Ph1

just a few questions.

How will/won't the exhaust line up?
What are the wiring issues?

Intending to use the 1.2 gearbox (bit ghetto) but the valver box is not strong anyway. This means we can keep the original speedo setup. Anyone see any problems with this or anything else?

depends how you want to do it, run it on valver management or,, what engines in the ph1??? run it on that system and possibly map it??

if you want to mess with OEM ECUs the valver one will be easier to do things with. Wouldn't try to make the 1.2 ECU work with it personally.

cool conversion :D:D:D

cool conversion indeed and cheap as chips too :)

The valver engine can come with everything or nothing

Want to use, Valver ECU, Valver loom, valver exhaust manifold and downpipe (hoping it lines up and bolts on - if not, ghetto grinder and MIG time)

By wiring issues I mean getting the engine loom (sensors etc) plugged up to the dash and ignition?

oh, will be a doddle with a ph1 car and mk1 donor..

no complicated wiring to speak of long as you are handy with a multimeter/powerprobe

Does the mk2 have ABS or the like? If not then would it not be a cable speedo cable anyway so you could use anothers valver box?

Good idea though, liking it! Someone on coupeclub has converted a ph2 coupe to run a F7R so dont see why it would be too tricky

Edit, just saw above. No, the 1.2 doesent have ABS, the owner reckons the speedo is a gbox sensor and not a mech cable. So working on that assumption, and the assumption the ratios are fairly similar (which they are) and the assumption that valver gearboxes are piss weak anyway.......... give the 1.2 box a bash and see how long she holds up ;)

excellent stuff. A 20v for me, and an F7P for my mate

Not sure the 1.2 gearbox would fit the F7P.. is the starter at the front or back on the 1.2?

Look at the Clio 16V 172 conversions and work backwards lol

AWESOME
