F7R710 SWAPPED CLIO

  Renault clio wiiliam
So hello guys ,
I do have a mk1 clio 1.8 thats burning quite some oil , so i bought a f7r710 engine from a megane with 98.000km. I am in the process of tearing apart the f7r to check that everything is in good condition so i can put it on the clio.
I am in thoughts of doing some weighing of the crankshaft, rods and pistons and also putting some new piston rings as far as the block. I would like also to do some work on the head of the motor such as reprofile cams (or a straight set up if its available) with adjsutable pulleys ,maybe harder valve springs and for the sake of reliability maybe converting it to mechanical lifters. Also since the motor is from the late meganes with egr , i would like to delete it and increase the compression by machining the head since i dont want to put forged pistons .
Whats your thoughts on the project and what power do you believe i could achieve with the above . I am not chasing the biggest number , i just want to build a fresh revy engine (since i really liked how the f7p works) but in the same time squize some more power with simple solutions from the f7r.
Feel free to share your thoughts on that .

Cams are a must for that engine as the original ones are junk, fitting standard Williams F7R A700 cams into a megane engine usually gives an extra 10-15 bhp without any other modifications so upgraded ones are well worth doing.

If you want it to be able to rev like the f7p safely you'll need to fit ARP conrod bolts as the F7R's don't like higher rpms and tend to smash the rods out of the engine.

Valve springs aren't really necessary as the F7R are already stronger than the f7p as standard and solid lifters are only needed for really wild cams which also need to be done with forged rods & pistons etc so they'd be pretty pointless for what you're building.

What are you plans/intentions for the ecu & wiring side of things?

Is there any particular model of camshafts that work pretty well for a f7r that it will rev at around 7500-8000rpm ? (This is the the desired number, even though i dont know if i can achieve that with stock block) ...i was thinking of ARP bolts for the block and the head, and as far as the mechanical lifters i think that it may help to do it just to rev the engine healthier since i have read that particular the f7p doesnt want to rev more than 7300rpm ,and i thought it would be the same fore the f7r...as far as the wiring i am looking for an ms1 or ms2 ecu with custom wiring so i can get rid of some electrical problems that my car has (not an original valver). The stand alone ecu is also a must since i would like to build some itbs with bike carbs , more for the sound of them .

That's mega high rpms for a stock bottom end 😳
My f7r setup is running at slightly higher rpms but it's got forged rods, forged high compression pistons, crazy wild cams & solid lifters and it's utterly awful for road use - what you're looking at and with the cams you'll need it'll be just as bad to use on the road.

As you're going with standalone & possibly itb's, cams that are at the limit of hydraulic lifters are a better option, Piper 285 & Catcams 213 are the most common ones people use and with itb's they make around the 190-200bhp mark
