Fabric spray?

I use carpet dye at work.

Basically, if a carpet is beyond cleaning, I dye it black. Gods honest truth, by the time its dry (about 5 mins with the cars heaters on) it looks like brand new. It won't dry on plasctics either so if you get some on the plastic, just wipe it off. Best valeters secret ever that stuff! It is absolutely brilliant.

(I've never used that stuff you've posted mind, so couldn't comment on that.)

Thanks for telling me about that! Got any links of where to get the said black dye from?

Was looking for solutions to make the interior less dull really, doorcards are aged and bland and the carpet is beyond cleaning (3 Years worth of previous owned neglect, its pretty much rock solid carpet in the back as theres been what I can assume some fixxy drink spilt and never bothered to be cleaned up or even had water poured over it, it was just left to dry in)

Got a spare set of door cars here to spray it onto anyway before doing real ones :)

The fizzy drink comment scares me...

If theres a crappy shiny hard piece of carpet, it will look 10 times worse once dyed as it will then be uber shiny. Your best bet is to fit a secondhand carpet from another car. (If you got one out of a ph2 172 then its a much better quality of carpet, I got one for £40 poste AGES ago) Its a bit of a nause of a job, but should be done in about 2 hours ish.

Where do you live in South Wales?

Would it be much trouble to drive to me and i'll take a look? (BS362TB)

Dont think its shiny, ill have another check tomorrow though, just hard and brownish in colour. Theres also f**k loads of sand stuck in the carpet everywhere, been hoovered every few days and its determined to stay :(

Ive got another PH1 here with black carpet I think, but again the pain in the ass getting it fitted etc, and that ones not in the best of states either (When car was rolled window smashed and water pooled in the back, so im not sure how bad that is now its been dried out)

Im at Carmarthen but often at Merthyr Tydfil, your 2 hours away from Carms but I will most likely be at Merthyr next week so thats not too far a trip really.

To be honest, theres no point in wasting time/money trying to salvage a carpet thats f**ked.

You're much better off replacing it. Sand isn't an issue as you can just dye the whole thing black. But if theres crustations of crap everywhere, you're flogging a dead horse.

With the amount of people breaking clios on here, it won't be hard to get one. And the most difficult bit about fitting it is the 8 bolts for the seats. Other than that, its just fiddly.

ah see, well as said carpet wise a new one is pob the way to go, as for the doorcards though just go for it, especially with a spare set.

i came across fabric paint a while ago and thought about doing the edges of the front seats blue with it but have decided against it as i reckon on surface that gets rubbed (by my ass lol) it would quickly wear away and look pants, but doorcards dont really get any abuse so should be fine

daniel - am i right in assuming using the spray on high wear areas would be a bad move? kerrys got me thinking again lol

I personally wouldn't use it on seats and never have done. Imagine your mum getting in with her best white church frock on and the dye soaking into it....

She'd kick your ass!

Not sure if it is that ruined though, ill have a double check this week but I think it dried out fairly decently.

Just found a 172 carpet in black for £35 posted :)

I might buy the carpet now and get around to fitting it when I bother to buy some sport seats :)

Yeah I was thinking doing the seats would be a waste as it would just rub onto clothes etc and wear down constantly, unless it is really that good at its job.

I could give it a trial on the back seats I suppose, the old rear bench I have from the car was disgusting (Now I mean bad, covered in melted chocolate, ground in mud etc) I might spray that, put it into the car and whoever goes on the back seats can take the risk :rasp:

Suppose doing the roof lining could be an option too

Any suggestions on how i can change my parcel shelf from light grey to black?

i think it would look so much better

Buy some fabric and spray adhesive :)

Mines been covered over with grey fabric and spray on adhesive to cover up the 6x9's on there to look more stealth. Easy job really, just get a decent thickness of material and use a lot of adhesive, will also stop the parcel shelf rattle too because the extra fabric pushes on panels more :)

Failing that just use the spray I linked on here possibly? http://www.fabricspray.co.uk/shop/upholstery-spray-paint/midnight-black
