Failed MOT need help...

Hey, this is for my m8, who is not a member yet. He has just put his car in for a MOT and it has failed on quite a few things, the main ones are the abs warning light is on, and they seem to think the full lock isn’t good enough and want him to buy 5mm spacers to supposedly correct this and they will fit them. It is on coilovers lowered about 70mm and has 17's.

Are this garage just being fussy, i no some are more lenient then others. Btw the car is clarkie172's mk1 172. Ill try drop him an email as well, c how he got it thro the MOT.

Any ideas and info on getting rid of the light and whether I need spacers would be appreciated.

clarkies is LOW, i would of thought it would need 5mm spacers on the front anyway (mine does) to clear the coilover

hey fred thx, ill tell him to get hold of some of them, any ideas where you can get them, halfrauds?

Any ideas about the abs light as well, maybe a faulty sensor?

Renault want 44 quid just to look at it!!

i have no idea about the ABS, maybe remove the sensors and clean them???

Halfrauds have the 5mm spacers normally, £20 IIRC

can they fail an mot on the abs warning light being on?

why's it on? damaged wire from the cable not being mounted on the coilover after fitting, or what?

Unplug the ABS control unit....problem sloved

Trouble is cars at the garage still, i reckon he should get car back and go somewhere else.

Anyone know where the abs sensor is? I have the Haynes manual for the 98-2001 clio pre facelift model so should be similar to the mk1 172.
