fan belt troubles

last few weeks ive noticed for first 5 mins of starting the car in the morning and its whining abit but goes after few mins....m8 from the garage said its just abit water on it or condensation or woteva and itl b areet...what does anything think? both belts were changed at about 40 i think and its done 68 now???????


when would they need replacing anyway?

Probably slipping fan belt, common on some cars in the colder weather.. not sure if the aux belt is 32/36k or 5 years which ever comes first?

Edit: Not sure if these can be tightened up buy moving the alternator or if they are auto tensioned, iirc these are auto..

hiya mate. aux belt change is at 36k or 5years. you ave done 28k since last belt change. were they genuine parts? the noise could b a idle or tensioner pully. or the aux belt is slighty perished. there is no adjustment on the belt its a auto tensioned by the tensioner

coluldnt tell ya to be honest mate the lad who i bought it off worked at renault or did when he changed them so probably proper parts....iljust leave it and see how it gets on because its totally fine after a few mins so doesnt sounds like a really bad problem and its only been happening since its been cold

Could well be condensation/dampness on the belt, mine was fine about 2weeks ago, now it just squeeeks like mad,

Leave the car running to try and make the belt warm up so the dampness goes.

aye jay thats what i think it is as its only been doing it for about 2-3 weeks and goes once slighty warmed cheers bud
