Fan Problem..Help!

Me thinks me fan temp sensor is buggered...

The fan kicks in every time I switch the car off, even if its only just been turned on ignition and then turned off.

And no its not because I been trashing it, it happens even if I start the car first thing in the morning.

Any advice will be much apreciated....Thanks

unplug your fan switch-what happens? have you checked the fan relay in the n/s inner wing relay box? has it always done this?(is it the type with the timed fan operation after the engine is switched off, some models have this along with the electric coolant pump situated neare the bottem hose)

He said it did it from cold though, i assume this means a cold start, then switch off and the aux system will kick in.

yes thats right, Ive tried unpluging the fuse in the fuse box and fan switch on the radiator and it still comes on... although Ive not checked the fuses near the screen washer bottle....

But now Ive got another problem, My battery has gone flat. It seems the alternater has gone as the battery is not being recharged...Anybody know where I can pick a cheap alternator in good condition.....?

P.s. how difficult is it to replace it i.e. Labour charge (approx)?

Cheers.....

the timed fan works on when the ing feed is cut so you could turn the ing on/off and you would still activate the timed fan.even if it hasnt got the timed cooling fan i still think he has a relay fault(internal fault with fan relay)

have you checked the connection to the fan switch. mine used to do this too and when i checked one of the wires to the switch had rustted and broken off. i wacked some speaker wire in there and it works fine. just a suggetion.
