FAO BAMBAM - DLS CA10

hiya mate,

throughout readin this forum ive picked up ur a man who knows his ICE and I appreciate that. Now I work as a ripspeed specialist so I know my stuff too but Im after another guys professional opinion. Ive got 2 12inch Diamond audio M6 subwoofers (dual 2ohm coils) which I plan to run together at 2ohms...now these subs are rated at 800rms each so ideally im lookin at a amp which can do 1600rms at 2ohms which is gonna b f**kin expensive!

I am a man that believes its better to get a underated amp with less power on the label than a trumped up cheap brand however I do like to get as close to the ideal power figure as possible.

Ive seen on caraudiodirect.com the DLS CA10 amp...looks gorgeous but is only rated at 700rms at 2ohms however readin the technical specs it uses 5x30amp fuses WOW! would this amp b any good at running the subs or should I look more towards something like the phase linear opus 1 which is rated at 1x1100rms at 2ohms however it only has a 120amp fuse?

to be honest, the DLS, Audison, Phase Linear Opus 2, or Genesis amps wil be well worth investin in

they all produce good sounds and very good performance when you consider the price of them

I have an amp to i might be selling that you may be interested in.

Fusion Jonah Lomu monoblock

1 x 1250 @ 2ohms

smurph - no offense intended, but judging by the above amps he has mentioned, he is looking for SQ, Fusion just dont cut the mustard any more, they are mainly SPL (which they are good at)

i did have dls ca10 and to be honest it was pap

i bought last year from CAD in their cadvent sale. i bought it to run a JL w6v2 bridged the 2 vcs (2 ohm load) and it kept cutting out so tried 8 ohm load and exacly the same tried diff sub same.

found out that it has a very sensitive dc cut out

IMHO i hate class D

well ive been powering my jl 12w7 with it and the sq is there. dls ca10......looks mailto:cr@p">cr@p as well. i bet if you powered those 2 subs with the fusion and then dls u wouldnt tell the difference.

but thats a whole different argument. Fusion rules. I think youll find the majority rate the fusion jonah as a good amp. Id prefer it to that dls any day. Maybe if it was a dls A3 or something it may be a different story but its the lower range, im not slating it as i havent heard it im just sying i wouldnt buy that NEw. Just wait in the classifieds for a high end quality amp for the same price.

everyone thanks for ur comments...I am after more of a quality sound but at the same time I do expect there to be plenty of thump on hand when required. in my own opinion the jonah lomu series of fusion amps are reportedly very good however seem extremely expensive for what they are.

Dink what sub/s were u running with the ca10? what guage power cable were u using to feed the amp? my research tells me its got 5x30 amp fuses which means it can draw 150amps worth of current on fell wack so u would have to use one run of 4awg to feed the amp on its own and not run any more amps off that feed...excuse me if Im insultin ur intelligence but maybe power starvation was the problem?

bambam can u suggest any more quality amps that could reach this sort of power figure for about 500 quid?

i was running a jl w6v2 paralell 2ohm load. i run 4x 10mm2 power cables

was told that it might be a bad earth so tried several points but it was cutting out at the same point in the song

i think the 5x30 amp fuses is too much only 1kw at 1ohm which would probably be about 100 amps

Davidol - I am selling my Fsuion Jonah if youd be interested. Perfect condition and working order, with Fusion metal flight case an screwdriver if i can find it :)

1250rms @2ohms, 800rms @4ohms. Perfect for running your subs.
