FAO - CS Owners - Standard or Coilovers ?

As some of you know I have recently purchased a Ph1 172. I have never owned one and used to have the 1.2 which was very low on coilovers...which I loved

However only owning the Ph1 for a couple days now I think the handling is amazing, seems to be no roll at all, I have driven a standard 1.2 and that rolls about like a boat.

Anyways here my question,

Does anyone think coilovers affect the handling better or worse ? I dont do track days but did love the coilovers on the 1.2 but they were a pain in the arse sometimes (speedbumps etc) hoping I dont get some then im dissapointed ???

Thanks

Ben!

As above just get some sportlines in the standard shocks or keep the standard ones. You dont want to spend £600 then ruin the essence of the car.

Looks cooool though!

Just wondering if the handling is effected in a negative way, stays the same or is even better ?

After lowering mine around 30-40mm on eibach springs, given on the puma mind.
It made the car feel tighter and even had less body roll, I feel body roll was the biggest difference. If yours has no body roll as it is then it will be mint after springs.

Coilovers make a massive (positive difference). I may be selling some H&R's in the next week or so, pm me if interested.

Dave has put Sportlines on his 172 and Id already put Konis on, still fun, less tail happy (not decided if thats good yet) and less roll while still being very driveable.

Coilovers arent that great imho, but havent been on track as yet so cant comment tbh. Sportlines do a very good job, H&R's are still a little crashy compared to standard but not as harsh as sportlines tbh.

Nonsense. Don't make out that coilovers aren't good enough because you can't drive;)
