FAO Renault employees, I need your help...

  BMW E46 330i Touring
Do Renault keep records of all servicing, etc work that is completed on all cars taken to a dealership?

I ask because I'm looking at a car that was purchased from a subsidary of AKS Renault (White Post, in Yeovil) and the owner says that they were told that the cambelt had been changed, but none of their service history documents this. They did have it serviced there on 57k so I'd guess it would have been done then...

Is there a way someone can type a reg number into a computer and it will search for all work carried out by Renault? In a VAG kind of way?

If so, could you let me know and I'll PM you the reg.

I'd need this done tomorrow really!

Cheers. :)

Renault aren't linked like VW/Audi matey. You will need to contact individual dealers.

so if the belt was supposed to have been done at AKS, you couldn't phone a dealer in Bristol to find out. You'd need to call the dealer who stamped the book. Pain in the ass tbh.

Cheers Dan.

They're having a look to see what history they've got. They bought the car from the garage after the cambelt had supposedly been done by them, so I suppose they wouldn't bother putting the receipt in the history. I'd have thought a note would be made in the book though.

Genuine sellers, a dear couple in their 50's I'd say. The wife's car, but is doing too many miles, and the husband hates it, preferring his automatic Merc! Bless 'em.

Lol, for the price it looks like I might be getting this one dude, I'd be mad not to take it. Higher miles, but less than what you must have paid for your's...

If it falls through though, I'll be on you like Alan on Ali.

Just been on the phone to the husband again, he thinks it might not have been done, as the separate 'bit' for timing belts has not been stamped. He says that we can either negotiate on price to account for this, or he can get it done and MOT'd (due in August) and make the price less negotiable.

So, how much would a dealership charge for cambelt / aux belt change on a non A/C Cup? I'm thinking of telling him to not worry, offer him £4k and get it done myself at Carlton...

Dealers charge around £350 for a non A/C cup.

I'd offer him £4250 and get him to MOT and Cambelt it, that way if it fails the MOT on anything, he will have to get it done. And Being a main Dealer, they will be strict as arseholes on the MOT.

LMAO, everyone will want to be our friends. We can finally ditch the likes of freebone, Tom and Tucks... they're holding us back.
