Rhys - in an earlier post you said:

"Bang per buck? Decat pipe! Between £15 and £100 depending on how you go about it and it, erm....makes the car quicker! Ive got before and after 1/4 mile times with and without decat pipe:

Before: 15.195 @91mph

After: 14.673 @93mph

Doesnt really feel it, but it makes quite a difference. Combine it with an exhaust system for maximum effect."

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a decat pipe and what do i meen to do to get it?

cheers mate. Martin

decat pipe is a simple plain tube section which replaces the catalytic converter currently in your exhaust system. The nature of a cat means it creates a level of restriction to flow since the gas effectively covers the area of a football pitch in that tiny space.

Removing teh restriction provides a power increase.

Ben - thanks mate - got it now.

is that illegal then? what other effects does it have? noise? emmissions etc...? why doesnt everyone do it?

cheers again
