FAO turbo geeks

Car  R35 GTR
Would like some advice on the new turbo. Need to learn loads as I have never owned one before. Any good sites to check out for information?

One question i want to answer. What boost am i running? And how do i find out?

boost controller will turn the boost up or down, not a good idea if your internals arent strengthened. Otherwise, go ahead and blow it up.

Gauge just needs t-piecing in and will tell you what your running.

I think internals have been upgraded, need to ring up and check. But thought I may as well get a boost controller with guage to cut down on costs?

Well my apexi avcr boost controller in my 300zx has a built in gauge which gives a faily accurate reading and you can specify the boost in each gear and maxiumum boost etc. It shows me my peak boost at peak rpm which is good as you can turn it down where it needs it should it spike.

I wouldn't put anything on the car until you have found out exactly what is in your car as you could be digging your own grave.

cheers.:)

the ktec and bb conversions have forged rods and low comp forged pistons. i really wouldnt want to boost it up too much though.

to be honest, its quick enough at the moment.lol. But the guys at ktec said it feels as if the boost has been set quite low. Not that I can complain, as it should mean more reliable engine. I think I'll just get a cheap gauge for now. Got a few spare pennies in paypal account.

And clutch. And driveshafts. And mounts...And brakes...Incidently i know of a set of 4 pots forsale! ;)

think i read hes running a paddle clutch already so that shouldnt be an issue, shafts could be a problem although if you watch what your doing and dont lauch it hard or wheelspin they should be ok

Paddle clutch is a good un.:) Bites really hard and not to bad in traffic.

I havent launched it from standstill properly yet, it wont happen alot, same with the 172 i had.

As for brakes, I got these sorted now. £250 for brand new ferodo ds2500 and brembo max discs fitted.:) Not even bedded in and they are excellent.

Gearbox could be a cool little project, would be good to get it strengthened.
