FAQ For New Owners

  Ziel Nurburgring

Thought it would be good to start a thread for new owners as well as a reference thread for current owners who need advice. If everyone puts in a bit, we can have a decent guide to owning and running 172s, cups, willys, valvers and other models. Maybe if everyone buys into it, it could be pinned so we know where to go.........

Right first off......Optimax Vs the rest.

Optimax is a higher octane than BP Ultimate and SU, it also contains adetives that protect your engine and stop some of the wear and tear. Some claim to have performance difference from it, but could be placebo effect on the user. In short, if you can get it, i would use it. If you cant SU isnt going to hurt as thats what all the performance cars have run on for years.

Yes, but even if we had a full Q&A for every question on every model that has come up, people will still ask it.....

Ive always though this would be a good idea. The amount of times Ive gone looking for an answer only to find that 20 minutes later that

1 That no discussion ever seems to end in an answer

2 That all cup owners think they dirve the best car in the world and its a million times faster than a 172.

I started to write a sort of FAQ at work for the 172/cup performance mods at work but without knowing al the parts numbers/ phone numbers etc its difficult.

Anyone else thing this is a good idea?

  Embarrassed to say

Yeah I think its a good idea.

The cup is the best car in the world problably.

Wouldnt mind some kind of how to guides on changing front/rear brake pads that arent in french. Plus recommendations on tools to buy for changing pads/ecu.

There is a guide to changing the brakes for the 172 no idea where but even a French one should show you enough. There not to difficult to do.

If anyone has any information they could send to me regards 172 tunning ie phone numbers for place please email me at mailto:edwardbarrett_uk@yahoo.co.uk">edwardbarrett_uk@yahoo.co.uk
