Favour to ask (Nikon users)

Any trustworthy Nikon owners here who have a longish fast lens capable of accepting a 1.4 Teleconverter (so will need to be f2.8 or f4 ideally)?

I've finally got my Sigma 120-300 2.8 working (for now, before I can afford to send it off for repair) but it won't play ball with my TC at all. I need to know if the TC is fine but have no way of knowing as I don't have any other telephoto lens.

Anyhow, would like to post the TC to somebody who could check it, will include a self addressed postage paid envelope so it can be returned to me at no cost (just a trip to a post office), cheers :)

I have got a D60. Dunno if that will work though mate!

EDIT: I only have the kit lense and a 35mm  NVM!

I have a 105mm f/2.8. not exactly telephoto though.

I think it would be easier if you tried it in a camera store like dunganick suggests.

I don't have my 300mm with me this week.

Best trying a camera shop. They should help out.

If it helps, I had a dream that I went into Jessops and tested it for you.

I'm deadly serious btw. I have issues.

Well if Revels could tell this in his dreams it could have many applications, lottery numbers etc...

Sigma are excellent on repairs, I often hear about people getting unexpected FOC repairs, plus the 3 yr EX warranty makes them a bargin. Shame they seem to be less reliable than Canon/Nikon kit.

My lens should of gone into them in the last few weeks for a new front element and repair/service of the AF (sticking at full zoom/closest focus).

Was quoted £120 - £130 all in. Albeit the AF is covered under the warranty, but then the service has been thrown in by the sounds of it.

Lol. It did work.

But I used their converter on my body/lens, so not sure if that actually answers any sort of question.

Yeah they have an excellent rep, heard of people only being charged £60 for AF motors on pro lenses etc, I think 90% of the cost is glass with their really long lens, so as long as that's fine most other parts are pretty reasonable. I think the contacts need a good refresh and it will all be fine...hopefully.

Definitely sending the lens in for a service soon anyhow, just got to pay off my trip around the States this Summer first and hopefully I can get the lens sorted before I get to the more expensive events I've booked (F1 Practice, FoS etc).

Off topic: but are you at Thruxton on 3rd/4th April Nick?
