Its very sad when accidents happen, makes me think even more about how safe my tin can of a track car is as i dont have a cage. I do drive within the speed limits and save my sprited driving for the track, but it can be other drivers which drive too fast which crash into you.

All cars crumple when they crash. Hitting anything solid at even ~50mph will wreck any car and anyone sitting inside it. The sooner people realise this the better.

Indeed. Even if you're cruising down a b-road at 60mph and hit someone head on doing the same speed, you're dead. It's that simple.
EDIT: Looking closely at the damage in the OP pics, I wouldn't presume the speed was especially high? Perhaps 60mph. Maybe more maybe less. It appears the impact was in the front right corner, pushing the wheel back in the wheel house and into the cabin area. The pics look worse because the roof has been cut off and it's surrounded by broken parts. If it had been mega high speed, the car would probably have been virtually cut in half, and the driver in question would not still be with us.

She must have been going some pace!
I hit a tree in an MG ZR about 55/60mph about a year ago, and it was one hell of a mess but it didn't look anything as bad as that!

because the car wasn't 3yrs old she gets the full 56k back from insurance.
both her parents past away and left her money, her dad loved audi's so it was almost bought as a tribute to him.
Yes she's been with TOTAL for over 20yrs.
