Filling in holes from 'Clio' badge...

...in the boot - what would you guys say would be best to do it? I'm sticking a decal over the top so it won't matter about matching, just need them filled in really. I put a penny on the inside and could possibly glue it there, but there would still be a little dint so maybe I'd need some sort of filler perhaps?

Cheers.

id keep the clio badge and ' rep your homies ' :) lol

btw how much is your car lowerd in that pic? looks nice

It's already snapped off pal!

It's lowered on sportlines so about 35mm, but it's on 17s so will look lower! I want it lower at the front though but it just wont go any lower with springs :(

lol, the filler will almost certainly fall out and crack with being slammed shut so often, a proper weld is best. but that depends how long your keeping the car for...

I'll be keeping the car for a while but just need something to fill the hole in - doesn't need to look good as I said, because I'm going to try and cover it with a sticker.

Cheers Alex, what kind of filler would I need though? Don't want it to be completely ruined!

Any sort of body filler will work though. You can get it in halfords or a motor factors place.

It comes with a hardener in a seperate tube and you mix it up then slap it on and it will set like concrete. I would suggest putting it on with a credit card or simaler sort of thing. Be careful not to scratch the surrounding paintwork though.

go to halfords and get some proper bodywork filler. the filler wants to be just to smooth the imperfections of the weld, not to actually "fill" the hole, as it won't hold well enough. feather it out with some 800 or 1500 grit, depending how well you can sand, and spray it up. ur car looks mint btw :)

I'll give that a go! The gaps are only thin so it should work.

Cheers mate! Still thinking of gluing two pennies over the backs of the holes rather than weld it though :rasp:

Get out it's your fault they don't look lower anyway.

tell me how u get on with the pennies!! at my garage we've a terrible old welder i won't bring near my baby, so i've still dirty great holes! ps i went 60mm on 17's, the lack of turning circle is bad enough standard lol!! looked mint tho with wheels buried in the arches.

If you're keeping it for a fair amount of time, why not wait and save money and do it properly at a bodyshop? If you start using rattle tins on as big an area as the bootlid it WILL look sh*t, there's no 2 ways about it.

Sand it back to bare metal, then go over with p40 fibreglass (available from halfords) put some on both sides of the panel, and then sand down and go over with bodyfiller. I did the same when filling the wiper hole on my corsa, would never have known it was there.

As mentioned I'm putting a decal over it so no spraying is needed...

Cheers for the above replies, very helpful. I'll look into it on a sunnier day! :)
