finally an answer, top mounts replacement

well after about two years of my car's steering feeling more and more lose Renault sent me the letter to say i needed my bonnet catch replacing . . .

they did their standard 25 point check and came back with my front suspension top mounts need replacing . . . i have FK suspension, but does anyone know how much this would be in a; parts and b; parts and labour from a garage rather than renault (charging around 50 per hour)

thats what happened to me. the car just felt really wobbly. even had bushes and track rods replaced.

i think i paid £50 for both mounts straight from a motorfactor and fitted myself. but cud be done in a garage in under 10 mins

ps. makes SUCHHHH a difference

the top mounts are £28 + vat from the stealers and you can do them mate its easy

Came of mine after i fitted solid top mounts.

you need to remove the front struts so it's not really a 10min job - guessing most garages might bill it at 1-2hours?

Can take off front stuts and refit in about an hour.

cheers for the replies, now the garage (being renault and also the guy behind the desk can barely open his eyes he is so thick) they said that they are after market top mounts from FK, this correct????

Sorry to hijack the thread but Ben what do you make of the solid top mounts as I'm thinking of getting some when I upgrade various bits of the suspension.

Mixed opinions to be honest mate. Make for a very bumpy ride. Turns in very well, and that was even before the coilovers were fitted.

Not had much chance to give them a good thrash due to the weather though

ive only bought new top mounts because its easyer to put them on my coilovers than to dismantle the old struts just to use the mounts when i could save 20mins taking them appart
