finally fitted my 172 seats in thr DCi - hints and guide for others

  2002 DCi 65
I have finally fitted the 172 seats that i bought earlier this week.

as you know DCi seats have side airbags built in and 172 seats dont.

I looked on here for the guide to fitting the resistor to keep the air bag light off and it has worked a treat.

I got a 3.3 Ohm resistor from Maplins (15p each) stuck it in the corrosponding pin holes, turned the ignition on and Hey presto, no air bag light!

the only bit i didnt take into account was having to strip down the seat belt buckle to fit the sensor for the dash light, easy to do.

the only bit that didnt work and i had to bodge was a square sensor underneath the gas cyliner for the pre tensioner - on the DCi seat is was pop rivited on, i had to break it off and fit it to the 172 seat using a zip tie, i have no idea what it was for, also it was only on the driver side.

I read on here people had fitted the resistors and the air bag light was still on, i think this was because they may have turned the igniton on half way through, or done it with the ignition on (i.e. listening to the radio while fitting the seats) - i fitted all mine and then turned the ignition on and it worked fine.

Quite a good price for them as well.

thats what i thought too - he had them at £100 buy it now or best offer, i sent an offer of £70 and he accepted, much to my surprise.

mind you, i had to drive 95 miles to pick them up!

link to post where you found instuctions?
I searched and couldn't see anything :(
Gonna pop to maplin now, how easy is this to do?
Is it just a case of plug in and off they go?

Fair do's on changing the seats, but the cup ones look awful. I much prefer the suede & leather you get on a normal 172/182.

the only thing u need to know in regards to swapping the seats is where to put the resistor.

On the driver seat, underneath, there is a Black plug and a grey plug.....the resistor goes in the black plug in the pins on the Orange and Brown wire (they are next to each other), put the resistor in then tape it down to stop it falling out.

On the Passenger side u'll find the same Black plug but this time the resistor goes in the Beige and Brown pins (again, they're next to each other)

During the whole process, dont turn the ignition on, only when u've finished must you turn the ignition on.

the Resistor(s) i got were 3.3 Ohms from Maplin (15p each)

if you get stuck, drop us a message.

I popped up to Maplins after I'd read your first post earlier and posted.
Sadly they were closed, I'll go monday instead.
