First Car

Renault Clio Mk2 Ph1 1.2 Grande

Got this car in September 2008 and used it to learn to drive etc.

Passed my test in December so can now drive it :D

Before I passed, (couldnt take it anywhere for pics so its in the drive)

Slight knock to the front near-side bumper which has been bodged. (Previous Owner) Still waiting to either get it fixed or get a new bumper. Also the splitter is bent and hanging off the bottom.

"Sporting" badge was put on by previous owner. first chance i get its coming off

Also a small dent in the passenger door (previous owner again) so planning to get that fixed asap aswell.

Will go out today maybe and get decent pics.

Mods i am planning/done

15" OZ F1 alloys already - Looking for renault centre caps though? Anyone has any PM me?
Ph2 Rear Lights - Done
Remove Sporting badge - To Do
Colour coding - Colour coded side strips on order
Possibly Ph2 Standard or 1*2 Rear Bumper, depending on insurance
Possibly a Dynamique Spoiler, again depending on insurance.

Your thoughts?

i wouldnt have to think ul need to inform the insurance... just tel them you bought it like that... end of the day with standard parts it will just look like a 'normal' clio rather than aftermarket..

After putting the Ph2 lights on it, i phoned the insurance and asked if i had to declare it and they said if it was only standard clio ph2 lights then no, on one condition that if i have a bump and smash the light then they will only replace with Ph1 lights.

Also just been to the scrappy and picked up a nice dynamique spoiler with brake light for £15  Still black plastic but il think about colour coding it later.

bahh standard things you dont really need to declare really as its all genuine stuff... i only declared mods which made my car stand out ie alloys, LED rear after market lights, front angel eyes... anything thats not standard (Bits) so dont worry too much fella...
unless your making it look like a sport then yeah all mods must be declared making it look faster and more desirable model.. but just lil things you really need to be hassling around with :D

Nah i just want it to look better than it is. Im not a fan of all the black plastic trim so getting it all changed and i prefer the ph2 rear bumpers to the ph1, but apart from that its fine.

Not doing anything daft like engine mods or m3 wing mirrors because that takes it away being a clio and more like an m3, prefer to stay standard as much as possible, but just basically higher spec model stuff.

nice first car

should have taken that sporting badge off at the same time.

that would be first on my list.

Was planning to but couldnt get the hairdryer out far enough from the house, need to borrow an extension lead. Any other ways of getting them off?

Went to Renault today.

£16 each they wanted for Centre Caps

Can get a full set off here or on Ebay for £25 lol

When i bought the car it already had OZ F1 alloys and foglights, the previous owner had it from a year old and said they were on it when they got it.

Do you think some one has put them on it or were they just flung on in the factory?
its a 1.2 grande btw

Phoned up and told them about the lights and spoiler but they said since its genuine renault parts i dont need to declare, under one condition that if i have a smash, they will only replace with original parts that were on the car

Insurance have said they aint too bother about cosmetics etc but as soon as i tincker with anything mechanical i need to tell them.
