First crash

  Clio
well been driving 2 1/2 yrs and last night i experienced my first crash!

Was only going 30-35mph broke lightly round a corner however the steering somehow locked u, I went up the curb and hit a lamp post.

I have learnt that you never know whats going to happen in wet conditions, and am suprised that it happened going at a slowish speed.

damage- Well my Clio is far stronger than i thought, the lamp post has taken a beating and is now bent.

crack in upper grill- will replace with an RS one.

Fixing mount for headlight snapped, but actual headlight not a scratch.

Under the headlight on the bumper is a six inch crack.

Some plastic thing from under the car came off, but who know what that is.

splitter half hanging off, but now clipped back on, was going to replace ot anyway.

The front bumper on paasangers side has become uncliped i think, can force it in my hand so may need to take it off and re-fix it.

Does anyone know how much it will cost to fill and respay the crack? was thinking of getting it done whilst colour coding the car.

I dont think its serious damage, car drives fine. Im glad the air bags didnt go off, as that would have been expensive being only tpft

Breaking round corners is never a good idea, especially in the wet. Glad its only minor damage and your ok. I would remove the bumber and make sure everything is ok.

And i rolled in to a wall at 10mph and wrote the car off.... :(

Not fair!

Looks like you got lucky hah.

I must say, i highly doubt that whilst rolling your car into a wall you had time to check to see you were doing 10mph which is unbelievably slow.

As they say, when something like thats going on the world seems to slow right down.

Live and learn mate.

Atleast you weren't hurt and neither was anyone else.

Ive had a few little crashes myself not involving any other party. Dented a couple of steelies and an alloy. Cracked a bumper reversing into a space and there was a post.

No biggies. Just good as learning curves i guess.

Unlucky mate, nearly everyone has done it, just an expensive lesson at the end of the day.

As for lamposts, I'm sure they have some sort of crumple zone in the base don't they? I could be talking utter b****cks here by the way .
