first driveshaft...now abs! they related?

  BlackGold 182
hey,

noticed a couple of weeks ago that there was a noise coming from front driverside wheel on my 182, checked it and it turned out to be a nackered driveshaft.

fitted a new driveshaft today without a problem. took it out a wee test drive afterwards to make sure everything was fine and it was...until i tried to come to a stop. it braked fine until the last second before i stopped and the abs started kicking on my pedal.

anyone have idea's what it could be?? are they related problems??

any help/advice appriciated,

cheers,
martin

Hang on a min. Driveshafts and ABS are related. The ABS ring is on the driveshaft. The sensor is on the hub. You say you've had a driveshaft failure -> Was it the outboard CV joint? When these fail, it's because the CV boot clip has broken free and CV grease has been lost. When mine went, I got an ABS error due to the sensor being covered in CV grease. This happened while the car was in for a cambelt at GDI. Danny cleaned up the sensor and reset the warning, and it all cleared up.

So It could be related. Check the sensor on both sides and see if it's clean.
