Fitted My Simota Aeroform....

  RSTuner'd 182FF
Ive had my car for nearly a year now and since then ive been running with an ITG panel filter, but i thought it was time to try something different. After reading sooooo many threads about IK's i decided to go for the Simota Aeroform(thanks RichCup). I know people say they are bad for heat soak etc but since fitting it last week ive only got positive things to say about it. When driving normally you wouldnt even know its there but put your foot down and jesus this thing has an unbelievable sound! Anyway im very pleased with it. :) . Comments welcome......

I picked up a bargain CF engine cover off ebay aswell. My bay just needs a good polish now. ;)

great sound yep !

but performance went way down on mine..
+ check your mpg , this will also get worse with one of these.

Looks smart, but like franx said, nightmare for performance.. you may "feel" as if the cars running better due to the induction noise..

But if you've gone mad for carbon fibre ( like myself lol ) drop me a Pm, gotta a few bits that will soon be up for grabs.. few pics of the proto's..

i don't see why it would be bad for perfomance...
That kit looks a lot like bmc-cda or maxogen .It's even in the same place.Air gets in through the grills. And you could also put a tube to get more air in it.From the lower grill or the fogs

Can these be bought online anywhere?
simota web-site is no good

The reason for it being bad for performance is that its still an open IK and will effectively suck in hot air, BMC/Maxogen are inclosed. I have a CAF going to it from my lower grill. ;)

i think there is supposed to be some resistance in the airintake. This is too big of a change in comparisson to the OEM box, just way too much air ..

Unless remapped to suit this filter , it will lose throughout the rpm range. Torque and top-end went down when i tried this one. I had the Henk Fastchip Group N map on there, did'nt matter. The original airbox back on and i got my rocketpower back .

But the Simota sound is sooo meaty  It's shaped like a trumpet and it's pointed toward the grill, maybe this helps the ROOAAAR

gotta love it i guess

Funny that you say about a remap, i rang RS Tuning in Leeds the other day to see about booking my car in. Just need to save some pennys now;) . Think ill only be able to tell what its really like when i go the 'Ring' again early next year. :D
