hi m i brought some new wheels yesterday and put them on this morning , and for some reason im getting a knocking sound as im driving ?! what could this be ...has anyone had this before .
Have u left the spigot rings off the new wheels?? this can cause noise if the centre bore of the new wheels isnt right. The wheels could be unbalance or the tyres on em could be out of shape causing the steering probs.
jack the car up, take the wheel off then put them on again, tightening each bolt then the opposite one, tighten them as much as you can by hand then drop the car down and use a breaker bar to tighten them more
i hope this helps and i hope this is the answer but basically i just went out now to do the above ^^^ refit etc and i got to the front left hand wheel only to find 2 bolts ??!! f**k knows where the other 2 have gone . would this most probably be the knocking noise ...
they must have vibrated and come off somewhere because i cant find them ....do you know what size or where to get new ones from and do you rekon this will sort it ? i owuld have thought so .
im still thinking that you didnt have them sat flat with the hub when you lowered the car back down and so the bolts wouldnt tighten properly hense why they came out
u should have 4 spare bolts from your locking wheel nuts , or reno sell them.
as long as you get the wheels flat with the hub before you lower it all will be well
yes tell me about it . could have been worse . i had a right hassle getting bolts !! ha ha long story so i wont explain and its all sorted now ! just need my tracking done because of the shaking steering wheel .
