fitting a boot install in mk2

  K20 EG Hatch

i have now got 2 alpine v12 amps and 2 12" subs. At the minute there just velcro in but i need a permanent solution. What is a fairly easy way to put them in so they look the b****cks as they sound and not gonna be too hard. Is a false floor gonna be the best way. The subs are already boxxed and there is no room in the boot at all. I mean the amps are sittin in front of the subs at the minute and they are pretty much toucking the box and the back of the boot :( someone please help!

have a look in the gallery section for ideas best bet is to make a boot build, false floor and sides too, then mount the amps on the side and the sub box in the boot floor job done., carpet all the wood and it will look sweet as.

Just get it done with a false floor like in mine dan, dead easy. You should probably cut out above the amps to allow them to cool better. Or, you could get some of the cool little led fans from auto acoustics, its a bit more £££ but should look pretty cool

Trial and error. Cut off just a little bit at a time and be patient! Simple to do really Ive done 3 or 4 now for clios without a problem.

Thats what I did the first time. Then dicovered that the carpet doesnt go all the way to the edges! Still no harm done, made the perfect bottom false floor to screw eveyting into then covered it up with a proper false floor. Whereabouts are you Dan, may be able to give you a hand if you want?

sound lads, well from what you lot have said i think i am gonna have ago at it this weekend with my dad and if i get stuck i see matt (hydeho) pretty much everyday so I will use his if he dont mind! cheers eviljohn though, im from cannock, west mids.

Anyways, will have a crack at it this weekend and use the carpet as a template to start me off. Where is the best place to get the carpet and mdf?

cheers again

hope you dont get one

but seriously, if youre that concerned about a spare, make the false floor in 2 parts, that way you will be able to remove the spare by removing one half of the floor

No probs mate, you can use mine if you need to. All of mine is still removeable so i can get at the spare wheel but it does take a while. You just dont want to make the false floor fit perfectly as it will never come back out. Just let me or Sar know if you want any help.

Got the wood from b&q and i got some acoustic carpet from halfords but bass junkies sell it too. The carpet was £20 (one roll was enough) but i cant remember how much the wood was. You need a fairly large piece though cus you need to make 2 floors.

Thanx. i was going for a simple install so i could use the boot, took some time to find the bits i needed for the sound i wanted. but at least i got away with out a sub filling the boot
