fitting a decat on a mk1 172

is fitting a decat difficult to do on a mk1 172??

ive ordered a devil decat and was wondering if it was easy to do or better to get someone to fit it for me??

its a tw^t of a job the subframe is in the way of the bolts , ideally you will need a ramp and a bund extention bar 2 x 10mm bolts, get a new ring kit too for the join its only a tenner from ren get new bolts ring and springs in the kit. ill post a pic tomorrow of where you need to go

m8 dont do it, i tried and failed many times, its a 2 man job i ended up getting the cat put back on when i had a new exhaust built not sure how much it would cost, but if i remember correctly im sure 1 garage said about 100 quid.

i did mine and it was a fooking nightmare! like john said, get the seal kit from renault its 13notes inc vat, as the old 1 will be shagged

well its fitted!! should have taken about 1.5hrs, but had a problem getting off the bolts from the flange and centre section. lol

big thanks to craig172 did most of the work lol

sounds very nice now, not too loud though, and has made a difference too

the decat was £125 inc vat and delivery from motorsportworld 2 days delivery too very impressed. amazing the difference from the twin cat to the decat.

I changed mine two days ago.

If you're fitting a cat as opposed to de-catting run the car at fast idle for 10 mins or drive carefully for 8 miles after fitting.

Mine smoked and stunk for about 5 mins
