Fitting Braided Brake Lines, Fluid and Bleeding

Hi all,

Got some braided brake lines to fit so will be banging some new fluid in there as well. Question is, to fit, use new fluid and bleed a difficult job? I know there's a guide on here but I don't fancy dicking around with the brakes.

Been quoted between an hour to 2 hours at around £80-£85 inc VAT from a trusted garage closeby. Sound about right?

Or anyone in Yorkshire fancy doing this for me for some beer tokens .

I have this job coming up and for me, its less about the difficulty of the job, and more about dealing with all the seized bolts and bleed nipples that are just about to snap. And also, if these things do go wrong, then they should be able to get parts sharpish.

For the hassle involved, spend £20 or so on an Eezebleed kit IMO. Well worth the money for not having to pump the pedal.

As above, just pressurise the fluid and open up the nipple to let fluid out, just keep an eye out that the fluid doesn't run out.

If you can a few days before spay some WD40 onto the bleed nipples for a few days before hand to help free them up. I also second the Ezebleed, it took two minutes to do and got it spot on first time. Get about 3x 500ml of brake fluid, you might not need the third bottle but it is best to have it to hand than run out, draw air though the Ezebleed and and have to start again!

The only issue I had when fitting is the one union on the solid line had slightly flared, it was as if someone had over done the hose going ito it too much and just forced a little lip on. I just filed this lip off and it was fine.

Another tip is to lift the car onto 4 axle stands and have all wheels off when doing this, just makes it a little easier especially with the bleeding if you need to go around for a second time. But the rear braided lines can be done from the passenger side. The bleeding order is (if I remeber right!): OS Rear, NS Rear, NS Front, OS Front. Seems odd to do OS Rear first but it has the longest line as it goes to the NS Rear and then across.

Yep. Bleeding order above is correct. Always work from the furthest from the MC to the closest.

Worth looking at the state of your rear solid lines pre and post flexi. I had to have new ones installed as mine would simply have sheared off the minute you tried to unscrew them.
