Fitting cost of engine mounts?

Just bought new engine mounts for clio 1.4 mk1, both the one under the battery and the top one on the drivers side, i would do it my self but just a bit worried about supporting the engine, my mates just broke his foot and cant do it and i dont wanna get mugged off!!

So how much would u say fitting should be?job looks easy too!

use a trolly jack and a block of wood to protect the sump

Yep easy to do. just make sure you don't try jacking the whole gearbox and engine up your only jacking to remove the weight so the engine and box are in the same place when you stick the new mount in place.

I no im dragging this on like a mofo, but how much 'should' a garage charge?£20?

No problem.
I'd say the'd chnage you for 40 minutes to more likly 1 hrs labour.
so say £30~40 depends on your locla garage they my charge £50 an hour labour.

Cool cheers edde i owe ya one, now gotta sort it out!it seems so easy to do and im quite mechanically minded, well i fitted a decat!

My only concern is the weight of the engine and the cold weather!!

You should be able to just use a trolly jack! Where is the knocking coming from?

No problems.
I'd try and find a garage preferably one with a heater etc. My cars still sitting in a local garage broke as its to cold to go work down there.

The knocking is in the engine bay!!so that could be a number of problems, but when you rev it and make the engine 'work' there is alot of movement and needs to be limited and this 'should' do the job!

Yeah too right edde its bad enough walking along the street in this weather let alone gettin ya hands dirty cos when you split the skin the blood runs like a mofo!

check the lower engine mount too just under the downpipe. Theres a washer thing in there that has a tendency to come out.

what the dogg bone mount?i did that one about 6 months ago and the clunking noise went a little so it must be the top ones now, i reckon
