Fitting springs tomorrow, any tips to help?

  Impreza Wagon
Fitting some sportlines to my car tomorrow, I've looked at the guides on here however is there anything else I need to know that could go wrong or make the job easier?

Also whilst I'm at it I might attack the ARB bushes if it's easy?

Inner arbs are suposed to be a pain to do.

Don't pull the driveshaft out .

Sportlines are a great mod had them on mine for a month should of done it ages ago ! !

Well I'm hoping it's only the outers that are causing a horrific creaking noise!

Good tip about the driveshaft, forgot about that!

All i have to add is you dont need spring compressors nope, but it did help have someone push down a CM whilst I span the retaining nut on a few turns.

Also had some problem getting the suspension strut lining up with the 2 bolt holes on the hub, because i had one side jacked up at a time, the second side (front only) i had no problem when having both front sides jacked up level, so i would say jack up the front on both sides, not one at a time.

And don't forget to not give the top mount nut any hard tightening until both wheels are on the ground and the spring is under compression, as in the air the spring isn't under great tension, and you tighten over hand tight the spring can jump out of place (thats what i experienced).

Good luck mate, rear is piss, front just takes a bit more time but its all fairly straight forward.

Cheers all it should be ok as long as the bolts aren't seized. I've had the rears out before when removing the standard exhaust so I'll do them last!

All done with no serious dramas! However the passenger side sits a bit higher than the drivers?

Yep, both OK. I was over at BTM earlier and Fred said it's normal, they'll also need to settle a little.

Just check the spring is seated correctly in the shock at the front. And you've assembled the top mount parts correctly.
Although as said could just be that they should settle.
