Flashing and solid Red light, not the usual, help

  Focus RS + S3
Long story short, about 2 months ago i had the flashing 'immobiliser' Led issue on my 2003 1.2 billibong daily

Great, ive trawled through threads on here and tried most things…

When i say its not the usual, it goes weeks at a time without issue
it used to do it nearly every time i tried to start it, red light would flash for 3/4 attemps, then it would go solid, eventually it would start,

Then it never did it for a few weeks, the one day i stopped for fuel and it took 10 minutes to get going, got it home and had a look,

The main thick earth strap was all frayed, replaced it for a good condition one off a car im breaking, cleaned the other earths up, cleaned the battery terminals as they were all corroded and the distilled water in the battery was low (original renault one on 03 car) topped up, took for a run, has been fine since,

It had a hiccup sunday, in the petrol station, but started on second attempt, and then this morning when i popped out,

So this evening ive gone through the loom, on this car its all covered in rubber stuff so splits are hard to find,

Found a slight rub through the sheathing on the one wire that comes out of ECU (the metal ecu cage that usually rubs, was removed few months ago)
Tapped this up, then took the 3 black relays out of engine bay fuse boy, and all other fuses etc, cleaned them up with wirewool wd40 and it starts 99% of the time

If i lock and unlock the car like a man possessed the car appears to get 'confused' and then will cause the light to flash when i try to start, but then gets going second or third time

Is this pointing to UCH failure? I have no other classic uch symptoms, its not causing me a major headache at the moment, but now and again the mrs borrows the car for work, its been fine when shes borrowed it, but im waiting for the day it wont start for her, then i'll get the major headache lol

Also, i was thinking about taking it to @Dan@SJM as hes my 'closest' specialist but will CLIP show an error even if its starting fine?

Apologies for the shameless tag @MicKPM but every thread i see on this topic has your responses in, and i dont mind travelling to get it sorted, its a great little car to be fair, but dont want to to jump at renparts £180! For a uch kit

I havent replaced the battery yet, as i have no other battery symptoms? Or should i just eliminate it for the sake of £30?

Any help is massively appreciated,
Cheers guys

Solid lights are normally component/connection faults. Ideally though it needs a network test to see what's occurring when it is actually occurring. With it being a 1.2 16v I'd say set fire to it or change the short engine loom (they're around £140 new).

Cheers Mick, i only get a solid light after a flashing light and a fair few failed starts, thats the bit thats confusing, it flashes for a few times, then it goes solid sometimes
